Why SAMRO Feels Complicated

I was chatting to a fellow creative the other day.
We ended up on the topic of SAMRO... and how the registration process feels like you’re signing up for an ancient bank account that still uses faxes.
He wasn’t wrong.
I agreed—SAMRO's admin side can be heavy, especially when you’re starting out as a freelancer or indie artist.
But here’s the thing I reminded him of: it’s only complicated the first time.
Once you’re in, you’re in. Sure, you still need to do your Notification of Works for every new track you release, but that’s more like routine admin-like updating your CV or sending invoices. It’s not as deep as the initial registration process.
I actually sent him this video I made on SAMRO Registration 101 (I’ll share below).
He watched it and hit me back saying it helped him see the process differently. Less scary. More doable.
If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed by the SAMRO process—trust me, you’re not the only one.
In fact, what’s been your biggest headache with SAMRO so far?
Drop it in the comments or shoot me a DM. And if you’re really battling, reach out—I'll help where I can.
